Ultra Youth Services is committed to creating environments where children and young people are safe, respected, and supported. We uphold all Standards and recognise the rights of children and young people to feel safe, be heard, and be protected from harm.

1.    Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in our leadership, governance and culture. 
Child safety is a shared responsibility across Ultra Youth Services. Our leaders set clear expectations for child-safe practice and ensure policies, procedures, and daily operations prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. 

2.    Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them, and are taken seriously. 
We support children and young people to understand their rights and empower them to express their views, preferences, and concerns. 
Young people are involved in decisions about their care and placement wherever possible, and their voices are listened to and respected. 

3.    Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
We work collaboratively with families, carers, Child Safety, and community services to support safe and appropriate placements. 
Information about our child safety practices is shared openly, and we welcome feedback to improve safety and care. 

4.    Equity is upheld and diverse needs are respected in policy and practice. 
We recognise and respect the diversity of children and young people, including cultural identity, personal identity, disability, gender identity, sexuality and lived experience. 
Our practice is inclusive and responsive, with particular consideration given to Children with Disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. 

5.    People working with children and young people are suitable and supported. 
All staff are recruited through child-safe processes, including appropriate screening. Referees, and Working with Children Checks. 
Staff are supported through supervision, training, and clear guidance to uphold safe, professional, and ethical practice.

6.    Processes are in place to respond to complaints and concerns about child safety
We take all concerns, disclosures, and complaints seriously and respond in a timely and appropriate manner.
Clear processes are in place for young people, and others to raise concerns safely, including reporting to Child Safety and other relevant authorities when required. 

7.    Staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe. 
Staff receive regular training in trauma-informed care, child protection, mandatory reporting, and safe work practices. 
Ongoing professional development ensures staff remain informed and confident in their child safety responsibilities. 

8.    Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising opportunities for harm.
We actively manage physical and online environments to reduce risks and promote safety. 
Placement environments are assessed for safety, and expectations around technology use, privacy, and boundaries are clearly communicated and monitored.

 
9.    Implementation of the Child Safe Standards in continuously reviewed and improved. 
We regularly review our policies, procedures, and practices to ensure they remain effective and aligned with legislation and best practice. 
Feedback from children and young people, Child Safety, and other stakeholders is used to inform continuous improvement. 

10.    Policies and procedures document how the organisation is safe for children and young people. 
Ultra Youth Services maintains clear, accessible policies and procedures that outline how we protect children and young people from harm. 
These documents guide staff practice and are reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing compliance and relevance.
